Fingers is a Shadow and the most skillful thief of the Old Camp. He can be found near the castle wall when going left facing the castle entrance.

Background

Fingers was a master lock picker of the thieves guild of Khorinis. He got caught and tossed through the Barrier into the Valley of Mines.[1]

Gothic

Fingers is the most skillful thief of the Old Camp and one of the shadows who have Diego's trust. He is among the most influential shadows in the camp.
He can teach the Nameless Hero picklocking and pickpocketing, if Diego sends him to him. To learn from him ask Diego who can teach you something and afterwards tell Fingers that Diego sent you. Although he considers himself one of the best thieves in the colony, he directs the Hero to Cavalorn to learn sneaking instead.
Fingers helps the Hero joining the Old Camp. If he learns one of the three thief skills (picklocking, pickpocketing or sneaking), he gains his approval.

Quests

Gothic II

In the sewers there is a locked door which can only be opened with the right key. Behind it is a chest by Fingers with a lock so complicated that nobody had been able to open it.
If the Hero has joined the thieves guild and has reached chapter 3, he can ask Jesper about it and receive the door key to try the chest himself (They key can also be taken off Jesper's corpse instead.). The chest has the combination RRRLRRRLRLRLRRLLLRRL and contains an Amulet of Strength and an Elixir of Dexterity among other valuables.

Trivia

  • In the canceled Gothic Sequel there is a book about the art of thievery written by M. Fingers who has been master of the thieves guild for 5 years. It describes how lock mechanics work and why bad thieves break lockpicks.
