Milten is a fire mage of the Old Camp and one of the Four Friends.

Gothic: The Comic

Milten is the protagonist of the comic. He is a soldier of Myrtana stationed at an outpost in the Great Northern Plain. Fearing being overrun in an orc attack he deserts and goes into hiding in Khorinis. To make ends meet he engages in theft and when being caught after stealing an apple, the guards recognize him as a deserter due to a tattoo on his forearm.
He is imprisoned in a cell together with Diego, Gorn and Lester. They are thrown in the Barrier together and despite joining different camps they stay friends.
After having become a fire mage he watches an arena fight together with his friends, when a fight breaks out between Brabak and Gorn. His teacher Corristo is outraged that he is associating with people of lower rank - especially with a member of the New Camp - and forbids him any further contact with them.
To prevent revenge of Brabak against Gorn they plot to lure him into a trap and frame him as an ore smuggler, so that Gomez has no reason to avenge him. Together with Diego he tries to sneak into his chamber but they end up in Gomez's chamber instead. There they encounter an unnamed female slave who agrees not to alert the guards in exchange for them helping her escape. They hide some incriminating valuables in Brabak's chamber, get two sacks of ore and sneak out again. As Diego and Milten leave and pass the mage's chambers Drago sees the woman and runs after them. As they ascend a ladder Milten drops a sack of ore as it's slowing him down too much and it gets hit by a fireball Drago shoots after them. This causes an explosion which destroys the tower and Milten and Diego hang on to a tree's branch as the woman clings on to Diego's legs. As Milten explains the plot to Lester afterwards they see that a new prisoner has been thrown in the colony - possibly the Nameless Hero.

Gothic

Milten stands in front of the mage's house in the castle of the Old Camp and informs the Hero that he may not enter it without Corristo's permission.
After he did something special for the ore barons Corristo made him his apprentice, which Milten ascribes to seeking entertainment, and Milten is trying to improve his magic skills to advance to the next circle.
He is dealing with messengers and takes the Hero's letter from the outside world and the letter from Cronos.
He told Gorn that monks used to live in the monastery ruin.
In chapter 3 he goes to the stonehenge seeking the amulet of an ore baron who used to hunt orcs and got cursed trying to take the focus from the vault below it. He gives the Nameless Hero a Death to the Undead spell scroll so that he can destroy the cursed guardian and take the amulet off his corpse. Afterwards he stays in a camp in the orc territory.
When returning to the Old Camp he is attacked by the guards who call him a traitor. He barely escapes and learns from Diego that all the fire mages had been killed. He stands near the north gate of the Old Camp to warn friends of other camps about the hostility of the guards. When the Hero talks to him, Milten directs him to go to Diego who is near the south gate at the other side of the camp to learn more.
The Hero and Milten meet again when Milten finds refuge with the water mages in the New Camp. The Hero asks for his assistance to transfer the energy of the ore heap to Uriziel. He agrees and reads the spell, which Xardas had written, while the Hero brings the sword into contact with the ore heap. They succeed in restoring the power of the sword but gain the hostility of the water mages who had years of work undone and their hopes of destroying the Barrier destroyed. Milten urges the Hero to teleport out of there while saying not to worry about him as he will think of something.

Trivia

  • In the comic Milten states his name as Milten Plescott.
    • He also mentions being from Sendar, presumably a town in which he served as soldier. However, Sendar was never mentioned afterwards.
  • In scrapped Gothic scenario, Milten, Diego, Lester and Gorn were supposed to have a meeting in open cave on Orcs' territory. They invited Nameless Hero to join the meeting.
    • They were also planned to help Nameless Hero in Sleeper's Temple to make his way to the Sleeper by wearing Light Novice's Armor and fighting with monsters and Cor Kalom. Eventually, it was considered too easy for final battle so the idea was scrapped.
  • In Gothic Sequel documents, Milten is 26 years old.
  • In the canceled Gothic Sequel Milten is with the fire mages and the king in the mountain fort. Diego sends the Hero to him at the start of chapter 2 to gain his aid against the demonic threat. His dialogues hadn't been written yet and WORKINPROGRESS is displayed after going through all options.
  • In the canceled Gothic Sequel there is also a letter by Nefarius in a chest in Cavalorn's hut. It states that Milten and the Hero betrayed them by absorbing the ore heap's energy into some artifact destroying their hopes of escaping the Barrier.
