Shadows is a joinable faction from Gothic.

They are members of the Old Camp who partake in activities like hunting, thieving, hosting businesses and occasionally taking care of delicate matters for the Ore Barons.

To become a shadow, one has to convince the other Shadows that they're worthy of joining them. A shadow that achieves an exceptional feat get a chance to get promoted to a Guard or even become a Magician of Fire.
