The Weed Merchant is a quest in Gothic.

How to obtain the quest

How to solve the quest

  1. Speak to Baal Kagan in the New Camp and he will tell you how his assistant Baal Isidro hangs around in the tavern all day instead of helping him sell swampweed.
  2. Enter the tavern and tell Baal Isidro that Kagan plans to have him replaced. Offer him a drink as well, as he will give you all of his weed.
  3. Speak to Baal Isidro again and give him his share of the profit. You don't actually have to sell the weed, just as long as you have 200 ore on you.
  4. Alternately, you can give the whole value of the weed (400 ore) to Lares to impress him and help you join the Rogues.
  5. In fact, you can both give 200 ore to Isidro and 400 ore to Lares. After you sell the weed, you'll be short 200 ore, but you'll receive more experience points.

Diary entries

  • Baal Isidro is sitting in the bar at the lake and drinking all day.
  • The novice Baal Isidro hangs around at the bar at the lake and gets plastered. He should sell his share of weed stalks, but he doesn't manage to. Perhaps I could convince him to let me do it, but how should I do that?
  • Baal Isidro was obviously upset when I told him about the plan to substitute him. But it still wasn't enough for him to let me do it.
  • Baal Kagan's plans to have the alcoholic Baal Isidro replaced finished him off. I think he'll accept my offer now!
  • The last sip of my generous offer drowned the last bit of Baal Isidro's resistance. I think he'll accept my offer now.
  • Baal Isidro happily accepted the drink but he still doesn't want to pass the weed sale on to me.
  • Baal Isidro gave me loads of weed stalks. If I sell them he'll give me half of the profit, which would be 200 ore.
  • Baal Isidro was relieved to get his 200 ore.
