Uriziel is a legendary sword in Gothic and Gothic Remake.
Background
Legend has it that the sword was forged from an unknown metal. It once belonged to a great general who lost it during a battle against the Orcs. He wielded the sword along with an Ancient Ore Armor, yet despite this, he fell in combat. After slaying the warlord, the Orcs claimed the sword, but fearing its power and unaware of its true purpose, they decided to hide it in one of the chambers deep within the Temple of the Sleeper, so that no one would ever find it.
To guard the sword, they assigned Varrag-Ruuushk, one of the five undead shaman-priests, to watch over the ancient artifact. An unknown slave from the Temple of the Sleeper wrote in his diary that he wished to escape the temple using Uriziel.

Trivia
- Uriziel's ID, "mythrilklinge," refers to the material "Mithril" from The Lord of the Rings.
- In some versions of the game, Xardas, after inspecting Uriziel, does not return it, forcing players to resort to cheats to get the sword back.
- This is the only melee weapon in Gothic that deals magical damage.
- Uriziel can be used to light torches.
- In Gothic II, Large Ore Dragon Slayer looks very similar to Uriziel.
- In Gothic II: Night of the Raven files, there's a speech file in the Builders language, where Nameless Hero says "Uriziel Ratis". This caused a theory among fans that Uriziel was forged in Jhankendar.
