Scepter of Varant

History

The scepter is ancient and of unknown origin. All that is known is that it's of the same workmanship as the Staff of the Eternal Wanderer and the portal to the Unknown Land. Both the scepter and the staff can act as keys to open the portal.

When the Eternal Wanderer lead his people, he carried this staff. But when Innos spoke to him to lay aside it, he did so and Innos gifted him the Scepter of Varant as a token of rule ship. But the Wanderer would soon loose it when it sank into the waters of the great flood that Adanos had sent.

It later came into possession of King Rhobar II. and was even part of his formal title; King Rhobar the second, bearer of the Scepter of Varant.

The scepter was part of Xardas' plan to leave the world and end the war of the gods. He wanted to open the portal and leave the world together with the Nameless Hero and the chosen of Innos and Beliar. But Rhobar couldn't see and was unwilling to loose his position and power. He attacked the Hero and died in battle. The Hero took his scepter and used it together with the Staff to open the portal and leave with Xardas into the unknown land.

Powers

It's a magical staff that can be used to create a magical shield. Just like other magical staffs.

But its main power is to act as a focus of divine power. In theory the Nameless Hero could have sacrificed the divine artifacts of Adanos at Innos' shrine in the monastery in Nordmar and receive a part of the divine power of Innos and become his chosen one if he wished to do so.
