Innos is one of the three major gods of the Gothic series.
Innos is the god of order, fire and light. He is the opposition of his brother Beliar, while the third brother Adanos keeps balance between Innos and Beliar.
Creation Myth
Innos, the light, is described to one day coming into existence and he created life and the sun. But still the sun was to bright to let beings thrive. Innos divided himself and so created his brother Beliar and Beliar brought the night with him. Now Innos was able to make mankind. Then he divided himself again and so made Adanos. Innos decided to rest and left humanity to Adanos.[1]
Beginning of the war
The light of Innos tormented Beliar and he startet to attack and destroy the light and the creations of Innos. Adanos stepped between his brothers to settle their fight but failed to do so. But where he stood, he created a place of equal order and choas, the sea. And from the sea came land and Adanos had created a world where his brothers had no power.[2]
The war on the land
Now unable to do it himself, Beliar came across the land and chose the beast to destroy the land on his behalf. And he blessed it with a portion of his own divine power to do so.[3]
Innos also decended unto land to protect creation and the chose the human to be his champion. And he also gave a portion of his divine power to counter Beliars beast.[4]
The human followers of Innos started building a great portal for Innos. For that Innos may reign forever on this world.[5] Beliar saw what they were doing and screamed in anger and he spoke to another being. But Adanos tryed to keep balance and sent the great flood and the creature was washed off the face of the world. But this also destroyed nature and animals and in his grief Adanos banished his brothers for ever from his land.[6]
In the end the human killed the beast and it entered Beliars realm. But Adanos feared the return of the beast and bade his brother Innos to leave a part of his power in Adanos' realm to maybe counter the beast once more. And Innos did so.[7]
Fire mages
When Innos first spoke to mankind, he gave them divine power and called it magic. All people were equal and some were dissatisfied by that. So Innos took away their power and raised the greatful one above the others. They became his priests; the first fire mages.
At the time of King Rhobar I. and Rhobar II. the faith of Innos is the state religion of Myrtana and the fire mages were priests, teachers and judges. In some cities of Myrtana there were temple of Innos where citizens could pray and the mages created their magical runes.
Kings of Myrtana
Rhobar was a barbarian of Nordmar. One day he came across a beast in the wildernis and flew for he had no weapons. He hid in a cave but the beast found him. Rhobar found a sword behind his back and slew the beast with it. But the sword was surrounded by flames and Innos spoke to Rhobar: Descend from the mountains, and defeat my enemies and Rhobar did so. He defeated the orcs and Innos said: This is where you shall establish your kingdom. And Rhobar became the first king of Myrtana.[8] This chosen of Innos is venerated by humans to this day.
King Rhobar II. of Myrtana was also a chosen of Innos and carried parts of his divine power. He also wielded Innos' Scepter of Varant.
Nameless hero
The Eye of Innos containes divine power of Innos. So when the nameless hero wore it, He carried the divine power. But the Eye ultimately lost its power and so did the hero.

Trivia
- Ra was supposed to be the main deity of Myrtana, the god of fire and the sun. Mike Hoge came up with the Name but Matthias Filler didn't like it and gave the god the name Innos.[11]
- The comic was published before the game and Innos's name is still Ra in it. Kai Rosenkranz referenced this fact in an interview once and claimed that Ra was supposed to be the father of the three gods.[12] However Mike Hoge's statement and the lack of any such father figure in the design documents make this unlikely.
- In Gothic healing magic is attributed to Adanos but in Gothic 3 it's retconned to be Innos's magic.
