Arto is an ore baron of the Old Camp and bodyguard of Gomez.

Gothic

He and Scar are Gomez's bodyguards and spend most of their time together in the throne room of the castle of the Old Camp.
He doesn't talk much and gives only brief responses when talked to.
After the Old Camp's attack on the Free Mine and the murder of the fire mages, the Old Camp closes its gates. However the Nameless Hero finds an old teleport rune of Xardas, which lets him teleport into its chapel. With this he has the option of eliminating Gomez, killing his bodyguard Arto in the process.
